Gum disease - or periodontitis - is the leading cause of tooth loss in the UK. Unfortunately, it’s also one of the most prevalent diseases with an estimated 50% of the Scottish adult population showing at least some signs of it. So what can you do to prevent it and improve your gum health? First of all, prevention is better than cure!
Anxiety is something that everyone feels at times but for the most part people manage to work through it. Dental anxiety on the other hand is something that is not so easily overcome. It can often prevent people from seeking out even the most basic dental care, until they have a problem - usually with excruciating pain - when they feel forced into attending the dental surgery as an emergency. This month, First Alba Healthcare's digital scanning graduate training scheme was featured in Scottish Dental Magazine. Following our recent £250,000 investment in 3D intra-oral digital scanning technology, we have announced that we will be recruiting and training two recent dental graduates in the technology. A prestigious event for Scottish dentists is taking place on 5 March at Royal College of Surgeons. Set up to provide Scottish dentists with a forum to discuss and promote industry issues, The Scottish Dental Association (SDA) formed in July 2020 to help unite and support all dental professionals in Scotland, is a not for profit organisation which now has 800 members. Its first ever conference has the theme of “Reshaping Scottish Dentistry for the Better”.
